Last fall, Christine Ayar and Elizabeth Bollinger gave me a great idea. They introduced me to Twitter. allows people to send updates to their followers through 140-character "Twits." Followers can opt to receive these updates through text message, IM, or by visiting your Twitter profile. At SSLDL, we send quick program reminders, library updates, and announcements of new programs and services to our followers. We also added Twitter to the desktop screen of all of our public terminals so that anyone who uses a library computer will see our latest update. We currently have 40 followers!
